Arthrosomid

Arthrosamid® is a new type of treatment for knee osteoarthritis that offers patients an effective alternative to current therapies. It is a non-biodegradable hydrogel that is injected into the knee to cushion the joint and relieve pain.

Platelet Rich Plasma

Platelet Rich plasma is a form of regenerative medicine that involves the taking of your own blood and removing Red blood cells and other selective cells via a centrifuge process. The remaining product has a high concentration of your own Platelets. These cells contact growth factors which are largely responsible for healing of soft tissues and joints.

The platelet rich plasma is then injected into a targeted area under ultrasound guidance to stimulate healing and settle down inflammation. There is good evidence to show in certain conditions like Knee Osteoarthritis PRP can provide several months of relief from pain and stiffness. PRP however will not regrow your cartilage or cure your Arthritis. Like many other injections this is a tool to consider in the medium to long term management of your arthritis.

There is reasonable evidence that Neutrophil depleted and high platelet concentration PRP can give up to 12 months of relief in knee Osteoarthritis and slow the progression of the disease.
