Your Bones Change With Age

But You Can Do Something About It

Bone density naturally starts to decline from your early 30s — and for women, this loss accelerates dramatically after menopause. It’s a silent process, often going unnoticed until a fracture or diagnosis.

At Physio Fitness, we host monthly REMS bone scanning days in partnership with Screen My Bones. Using advanced Echolight REMS technology, we assess both bone density and bone quality — with zero radiation and instant results.

This isn’t just about measurement — it’s about empowerment. With the right information, you can take control, reduce your fracture risk, and even improve your bone health over time.

Who Should Get a REMS Scan?

Radiation-free REMS bone scanning — right here in Dorset.
Perfect for women approaching or after menopause, anyone concerned about osteoporosis, or those simply wanting to take control of their long-term bone health.

This scan is especially suited to people who want to take their bone health seriously — before problems arise.

Bone loss affects over 3 million people in the UK — and half of all women over 50 will experience a fragility fracture. This scan is your chance to act early.

Wondering if we can help your specific condition?

Women in Peri- or Post-Menopause
Adults with a Family History of Osteoporosis
Those Recently Diagnosed with Osteopenia or Osteoporosis
Active Adults Concerned About Fracture Risk
Athletes Recovering from Stress Fractures or Repeated Injury
Anyone Wanting a Safe, Clear Baseline for Future Comparison

What Happens During Your Appointment?

Your session lasts around 45 minutes, and includes:
A pre-scan health screen
A painless, non-invasive ultrasound scan of your hips and spine
Immediate digital results, including your T-Score, Z-Score, and a Fragility Index (fracture risk)

A clear explanation of what the results mean for you. Advice on next steps — including supplements, diet, exercise, or further treatment if appropriate

This is not a hospital-style DEXA scan. It’s private, comfortable, and led by an experienced visiting specialist from Screen My Bones, working in collaboration with our in-house team.

Why We Use REMS (Not DEXA)
Both DEXA and REMS are tools for measuring bone density — but REMS has some powerful advantages:

REMS
DEXA
Radiation-Free
Low-dose X-rays
Safe for Repeat Use
Monthly if needed
Once every 2–3 years
Measures Bone Quality
Includes Fragility Index
Density only
Operator Independent
Consistent across scans
Variability between practitioners
Comfortable & Convenient
45 min in-clinic session
Referral-based hospital settin

That means you can monitor progress, make informed changes, and track results over time — all without radiation or NHS delays.

After Your Scan: What Next?

Your scan results are explained to you immediately.

But understanding the bigger picture — and what to do about it — sometimes needs more time. That’s why we recommend booking a free Discovery Visit after your scan.

During this follow-up, one of our senior in-house therapists will:

  • Take a deeper look at your results
  • Discuss treatment options like MBST Therapy (for improving bone quality)
  • Build a bespoke plan for stronger bones — including diet, supplements, and exercise

If you’re already seeing one of our therapists, they can help you review your scan in your next session.
