A safe, non-invasive way to confirm diagnosis
A musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound scan uses high-frequency sound waves to create detailed images of your soft tissues — including muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and nerves.
It’s completely safe, painless, and doesn’t use radiation.
At Physio Fitness, scans are performed by Consultant Physiotherapist and Sonographer Michael Dare — usually available in clinic twice a month.
Scans can help confirm a diagnosis, offer deeper insight into complex problems, or guide injections with precision.
When Is an Ultrasound Scan Useful?
Scans aren’t always necessary — many conditions can be confidently diagnosed through clinical assessment alone. But sometimes, a scan adds valuable clarity or helps steer next steps.
A safe, non-invasive way to confirm diagnosis, guide treatment, and understand what’s really going on — all under one roof.
If you’re not sure whether you need a scan, we can guide you — just request a free Discovery Visit and talk it through with one of our senior therapists.
Why Choose an Ultrasound Scan?
Ultrasound is ideal for surface-level or moderately deep soft tissues — but it cannot see through bone, or reach structures too deep within the body. We’ll always advise if another type of imaging might be more suitable.
No radiation, no injections
Dynamic movement can be assessed on the screen
Often more accessible and quicker than MRI
Especially useful for injection therapy
You’re in the hands of a highly experienced clinician
What Happens After the Scan?
- We explain the results clearly, on the spot.
- Your scan can guide your treatment plan — whether that’s physiotherapy, injection, or onward referral.
- If needed, we can generate a written report that you can share with your GP or consultant.
Follow-up scans are rarely needed — most people know they’re improving based on how they feel. But they are available if we need to monitor progress more closely.
