Injections Aren’t a Shortcut

They’re a Springboard

Ultrasound-guided injections — delivered in-clinic by physiotherapist and sonographer Michael Dare — to help reduce inflammation, ease pain, and kickstart your rehab.

These aren’t miracle cures. But used at the right moment, they can be a powerful part of your recovery journey.

  • Steroid injections reduce inflammation — but they don’t fix the cause
  • Hyaluronic acid improves cushioning — but doesn’t restore strength
  • Arthrosamid® and Cingal® may provide longer-term relief — but still need follow-up rehab

That’s why we don’t just inject and send you away. We help you use the pain-free window to move better, rebuild strength, and change your long-term outcome.

What Are Joint Injections — and Why Might You Need One?

Sometimes pain or inflammation is stopping you from progressing. Whether it’s arthritis, a flare-up, or a condition that just isn’t settling — an injection can provide a vital pause in symptoms so that proper rehabilitation can begin.

At Physio Fitness, we offer several types of ultrasound-guided joint injections.

All injections are performed by Michael Dare, a qualified Injection Physiotherapist and Sonographer, using real-time ultrasound guidance for precision and safety.

Corticosteroid (Kenalog)

Fast-acting anti-inflammatory for joint pain, frozen shoulder, sciatica, arthritis, and flare-ups

Ostenil Plus

A hyaluronic acid gel that lubricates and cushions arthritic joints

Cingal®

Combines steroid and hyaluronic acid in a single injection — for instant relief and longer-term lubrication

Arthrosamid®

A polyacrylamide gel for advanced knee arthritis — provides sustained cushioning and pain relief from a single injection

Do You Need an Assessment First?

No — but you must have an ultrasound scan first.

We don’t carry out any injection without first confirming diagnosis and suitability via a scan.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • An in-house ultrasound scan is required before all injections
  • You can have the scan on the same day as the injection or earlier — whatever suits you
  • The scan is performed by Michael and costs £150
  • There is no price reduction if scan and injection are done in the same session
  • The scan allows us to:
    • Confirm the issue
    • Rule out risks
    • Choose the most appropriate injection
    • Guide the injection with precision

If you’re not sure whether injection therapy is the right path, we recommend starting with a Free Discovery Visit — a relaxed, no-pressure chat with a senior physio.

What to Expect

Step 1 – Book a Scan with Michael Dare (£150)
This is the first step for every injection. Michael will scan the affected area, assess the joint or soft tissue, and confirm whether an injection is suitable.

Step 2 – Injection (same day or later)
If appropriate, Michael may offer the injection in the same appointment — or book you in for a separate visit. Either way, the injection is always guided via ultrasound.

Step 3 – Begin Rehab
Once pain and inflammation are under control, we’ll guide you towards rehab to improve strength, restore movement, and prevent future flare-ups.
